Even though many of us spend Valentine’s Day with our honey (or um, maybe with a bottle of champagne and a box of chocolates) I think it makes the holiday that much sweeter to celebrate with close friends! I recently invited my girlfriends over for a Bubbly Brunch to toast to our friendship and the memories we’ve shared living in NYC. Even though this was a Valentine’s theme, you could host a Bubbly Brunch of your own any time to continue spreading the love year-round. DECOR:: For this ladies-only brunch, I thought it would be fun to set a friendly rustic vibe so I set the table using my West Elm mercury vases, wood board, candle holders, and a tray that packs a punch of red to perfectly fit the V-Day color scheme!
BUBBLY:: Ahh, the most important part of the brunch. I set up a self-serve bar with items including Prosecco, seltzer water, juices, pomegranate seeds, and purées so guests could help themselves to mimosas, bellinis, or anything that involved a little fizz. We really felt like Cupid struck our party because this particular cocktail was an absolute hit! (Recipe will be shared on line soon!)
FOOD:: Design a menu that has a good balance of sweet and savory. Mini heart-shaped BLT’s are perfect for serving a crowd; they took us less than 15 minutes to make and were the perfect feminine contrast to the organic feeling of the paddle tray. I’m still dreaming about that goat cheese frittata…
DESSERT:: I served a variety of sweet treats so guests had a few options to choose from…. or, use it as an excuse to try a bite of each! If you’d like to recreate these apple pie cupcakes at home (you won’t be sorry if you do) check out my Ashton’s site because she kindly shared her recipe!
FAVORS:: Set up a dessert buffet on a bright tray or sparkly stand and include iconic items such as Be Mine candies and fun novelty items such as mustache cookies from a local bakery! (The mustache cookies were the best part of the party; we had a blast taking pictures with them.) Sending guests home with a sweet treat is the perfect way to continue spreading the love well after your event is over!
